Our mission is to provide a home to animals that have been adandoned or abused, to show them what it is to live in a home where they are loved.

Meow was a family cat. He had a home where he lived with his sister. That was until his owners needed to move and Meow and his sister, Mittens were left behind in residential part of Guacimo. Mittens survived but turned completely wild, not going anywhere near humans. Meow on the other hand realised that humans were the key to getting fed. And rubbed of course! Meow’s favourite 2 things in the world are affection and food and humans are infinite suppliers of both. Meow started to demand attention from the residents at all hours of the day and night refusing to take no for an answer. There was nothing Meow wouldn’t do to get what he wanted, biting included!

We were approached by one of the home owners who ran a guest house. She was desperate because Meow was bothersome and noisy. She tried feeding him but Meow’s needs were clearly not being met. And he would make himself heard and his presence felt which was how he earned his name!

Meow came to live with us and the balcony of Out of Africa become his home. He’d spend the day elsewhere but he was absolutely adored by everyone and started to really lap up the attention and of course gobble up the food too!

Meow is the biggest and friendliest cat we have. He insists on having his food bowl topped up at all times of the day and night. He used to hate the dogs with a passion but now he tolerates them and has even known to sleep on the bed with them - as long as they are sleeping and unaware!

Anyone that comes and stays at Out of Africa has the option of letting this monster of a cuddle cat sleep on their bed. Meow really lives in his version of paradise.
